The volunteer team of garbage sorting in Jiaxing Road Street consists of outstanding young people from residential areas, "two new" organizations, government agencies and institutions. Rehearse sketches, engage in roadshows, design posters and brochures, and organize various creative environmental protection theme activities … Volunteers actively carry out various publicity, training and promotion activities from the perspective of cultivating ideas, habits and behaviors, so as to improve the awareness rate of garbage classification knowledge and attract more people to participate in garbage classification volunteer services. Nowadays, more and more young people take the initiative to join in, and the total number of this team has exceeded 2100.
In the past five years, with the continuous adjustment of waste sorting measures, volunteers no longer need to be on duty for a long time to guide residents on how to sort. "Consolidating and deepening the concept of garbage classification with new ways and means" has become their new insistence.

习近平总书记十分关注垃圾分类和资源化利用，多次召开重要会议、作出重要指示、实地了解基层开展垃圾分类工作情况。
“小时候，我住在胡同里，都是晚上倒垃圾。现在，条件好了，环境美了，一定要搞好垃圾分类和回收处理。”2019年春节前夕，在北京草厂四条胡同的社区物业服务站，习近平总书记叮嘱：“从每家每户开始就要培养垃圾分类的意识，养成这个习惯。”
同年，总书记对垃圾分类工作作出重要指示强调，要“加强引导、因地制宜、持续推进，把工作做细做实，持之以恒抓下去”，“让更多人行动起来，培养垃圾分类的好习惯，全社会人人动手，一起来为改善生活环境作努力，一起来为绿色发展、可持续发展作贡献”。
2021年4月，在中央政治局第二十九次集体学习时，总书记强调“要实施垃圾分类和减量化、资源化”；2021年12月，总书记在中央经济工作会议上指出“要推行垃圾分类和资源化”……
习近平总书记的一系列重要指示，饱含着对实现人民美好生活、持续推进绿色发展的殷切期望。
近年来，在总书记的关怀与指引下，我国垃圾分类工作持续深入推进，297个地级以上城市已全面实施生活垃圾分类，居民小区平均覆盖率达到82.5%。
