On the evening of December 16th, the 5th Hainan Island International Film Festival co-sponsored by China Central Radio and Television General Station and Hainan Provincial People’s Government opened in Haitang Bay, Sanya.

范昀在致辞中表示，总台与海南连续四届共同主办海南岛国际电影节，务实践行习近平总书记提出的人类命运共同体理念，共襄光影盛事，促进文明互鉴，展现中国式现代化的万千气象。近年来，总台依托68种语言国际传播优势，持续讲好海南故事，讲好中国故事，讲好中华文明与世界文明交流互鉴的故事。总台将认真学习贯彻习近平文化思想，以开放的理念、绝妙的创意、无限的热情，凝聚中外电影人的力量，推动电影事业和产业高质量发展，把海南岛国际电影节打造成为文明之光交相辉映的灿烂舞台。

The theme of the 5th Hainan Island International Film Festival is "the new power of marine Vientiane’s light and shadow", creating a feast of film culture with more international vision, China style and Hainan characteristics.
Years are blooming, and flowers are blooming all the way. The performance of the opening ceremony was presented as a wonderful movie-themed concert, which innovatively integrated songs, symphonies, recitations, lines deduction and other forms, reappeared the classic sound, relived the dream of light and shadow, and told the story of the blending and collision between China films and world films.

The "Golden Coconut Award" of this year’s film festival is divided into three categories: feature films, documentary films and short films, and a total of 4018 participating films from 109 countries and regions were received. The jury of "Golden Coconut Award" is composed of 13 domestic and foreign film artists, and the famous Turkish director nuri bilge ceylan is the chairman of the jury.

The 7-day film festival will hold opening and closing ceremonies, "Golden Coconut Award" competition, film screening, Golden Coconut Forum, Golden Coconut Carnival and other activities. Among them, the film screening has a number of special screening units such as "Tianya Haijiao", "Retrospecting Classics" and "Hainan Concern", and nearly 100 Chinese and foreign excellent films will be screened in cinemas and open-air places in Sanya, Haikou and Danzhou.
The 5th Hainan Island International Film Festival will close on December 22nd, when ten awards, such as the Best Film and the Best Director, will be announced.
The opening ceremony will be broadcast by CCTV Variety Channel, CCTV News New Media, CCTV Video and CCTV.
